Materials included
- 20cm x 42.2 cm beeswax sheet
(Manufacturer's note: each sheet is made of "pure beeswax. The beeswax is first filtered to remove all impurities. This is a very important part of the processing which allows the finished candles to burn very cleanly because of the purity of the beeswax.")
- 22cm medium wick
(Medium thickness is suitable for a candle of 1-2 cm in diameter. Manufacturer's note: Wick is "bleached and pickled to ensure correct burning".)
Assembly
Each candle will be sent to you as a beeswax sheet and a cotton string for a wick So you will need to assemble the candle yourself. This is is by rolling your sheet, and you roll the wick along positioning it at the starting edge of the sheet. TIP: Prior to rolling it, you may soften the sheet, for example, by heating it with a hair dryer for a few seconds. Ensure that the beeswax does not melt but just enough so it will be more pliable when rolling it to a candle form.
Roll to the desired diameter, checking whether the candle will fit into your candle stand. Cut off the remainder of the sheet with a knife or a pair of scissors. You may assemble a candle from many sheet scraps. When the first beeswax sheet runs out, position another scrap sheet over the candle being formed so that it is next to the edge of the first sheet. There is no need for them to overlap especially if the second sheet is able to roll more than once around the candle's current diameter.
Burn time
As a guide, 3/4 of the sheet can form a candle of around 1 cm in diameter and the resulting candle can last up to 4 to 4.5 hours when continually lighted.
